 Karl Vasche
 Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church for Karl Archibald Vasche, 79, a life-long Merced resident who died Sunday here.
 Recitation of the Rosary for Mr. Vasche, a retired cattle rancher, will be Wednesday evening at 8 in the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
 Mr. Vasche was a second generation member of a family whose father came to California from St. Louis, Mo., by ox team in the Gold Rush days.
 the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vasche, pioneer settlers in Merced County, Mr. Vasche was born in the Athlone area. He was a graduate of St. Mary's College in Oakland and resided here most of his life.
 Mr. Vasche was a World War 1 veteran and served four years in Siberia. He retired from cattle and ranching interests in 1952.
 Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Freda Thornton of Watsonville, a brother, J. Harold Vasche of Merced, and numerous nieces and nephews.
