Death of Mrs. Eliza Ralston

The death of Mrs. Eliza Ralston, a highly esteemed pioneer woman, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.B. Hankenson, in Oakland last Saturday. The deceased was the widow of Major Clark Ralston, who died in March of last year.

She was a native of Philadelphia, and was aged 83 years, 2 months and 5 days, having been born on February 7, 1830.

She came to California with her husband in 1860, since which year she made her home most of the time in Merced county. The cause of her death was infirmities incident to increasing years,

To mourn her passing she leaves three daughters, Mrs. J.B. Hankensen and Mrs. F. M. Janes of Oakland and Mrs. M.R. Dixon of Newman, and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.J. Lindsay at the Central Presbyterian Church in this city at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the family plot in the Masonic cemetery. Many friends throughout Merced county will regret to learn of Mrs. Ralston's death.
