Mabel Owens is Dead
Mabel Owens, a young woman of the half-world, died in West Merced last Monday where she has made her home for the last five years. She was left an orphan at the age of nine years, and if she had any relatives she did not know them.
Her death was caused from stomach trouble and she courted death for her suffering was something fearful for several years. She was 30 years of age. Her associates in her Merced life gave her a funeral and interment due the dead in this broad land.
The funeral took place from Nordgren's Undertaking Parlors. Rev. Mr. Webb of the C.P. church officiating, not only at the parlors but at the grave. Her sisters in the sporting district turned out in force and the floral offerings were many and very pretty.
One more unfortunate gone to rest. They picked her up gently and handled her with care and laid her to rest until the great judgment day.
