Merced Express, January 25, 1919

Max Kaehler, a well-known resident of Los Banos, died at his home in that city on Monday evening, death being due to a complication of ailments resulting from injuries sustained in an automobile accident several years ago. The deceased was a native of Germany, aged 49 years, and was resident of Merced for several years prior to his removal to Los Banos. He was a straight forward and honorable man of kindly, genial nature, a good citizen and a true friend, and his memory will be revered by a multitude of friends and acquaintances. He leaves two brothers- Reinold Kaehler of San Francisco and George Kaehler of Fresno; also three nephews – Reinhold, Jr., and Norman Kaehler of San Francisco and George Kaehler, Jr., of Fresno. Funeral services were held in Fresno at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon following which the remains were cremated..
