Merced Express [Merced, CA.]
Friday, March 10, 1933

Charley Hing, a well-known Chinese resident of this city, passed away at his home on Fourteenth street last night at the age of 77 years. Death followed an illness of advanced age. The funeral will be held from the Ivers & Alcorn chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Charley Hing came to this country from China sixty years ago and had resided in Merced almost continuously for fifty-five years. He was engaged in the restaurant business during the greater portion of this time, and by his honesty and fair dealing commanded the respect of the whole community. In fact it was truthfully said of him: "He was one of the whitest men that ever lived." He leaves a widow and a son residing in California and another son living in China.
