DOS PALOS -- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the
Whitehurst Funeral Chapel for Hershel Harley Gryder, 43-year-old dairyman and
farmer who died in his sleep at his home on Linden Ave. on Sunday.
Full Masonic rites will be observed. Participating in the services will be
the Rev. W. P. Brian of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dos Palos. Burial will
be in the Masonic Cemetery in Merced.
Mr. Gryder was born April 23, 1911, in Nellyville, Mo. He has lived in
California the past 19 years, most in the Firebaugh and Dos Palos areas.
Besides having been a member of the Masonic Lodge, he was also a member of
the Dos Palos Grange.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Bessie May Gryder; two sons, Wayne 17 and Ernie 15,
of Dos Palos; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gryder of Harviell, Mo.; two
brothers, Cordial of San Francisco, and Manuel of Michigan; a sister, Mrs.
Edith Couch, San Francisco; a half sister, Mrs. Esther Danielson, St. Louis,
and a half brother, Ed Hyde, Naylor, Mo.
