Norine Isabel Caton

Norine Caton was born in Merced Falls on March 24, 1921 to Joseph and Rosalie Rocha. She went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. She was 85. Norine attended local schools. In 1941 she married the love of her life, Art Caton. Although she worked as a cannery worker for numerous years, she was best as a homemaker.

Norine was a good listener and always had a comforting word for those who would come to her. She loved to cook and was known for her Portuguese beans and her potato salad. Her house always smelled of something good cooking.

Her grandsons were very special to her. They were the light of her life. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, she is survived by her daughter Debra Apperson and her husband Billy Joe of Merced. Grandsons Neil and Nicholas Lowe of Merced and brothers Tony and George Rocha of Hilmar.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2006 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m at Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to California Homecare & Hospice, 780 W. Olive Ave Merced, CA 95348.
