FUNERAL RITES CONDUCTED
FOR JOHN T. CARDWELL
Funeral services were conducted for John Thomas Cardwell, 60 years, 11 months,
at the Le Grand Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon. He was drowned near his
home at Kerman on April 8th.
He was born April 21, 1877 in Springdale, Arkansas to Richard and Mary Cardwell.
On September 30, 1900 he was married to Rebekah Ballau of Lafayette, Ark. She
with five daughters survive. They moved to Kerman several years ago from
Arkansas. He visited here the past summer with Walter Cardwell.
Reverend T. E. Woods of Biola conducted the services at the church. The I. O. O.
F. of which he was a member, conducted rites at the graveside in Plainsburg
cemetery. Mrs. Ethel Taylor and Mrs. Alice Miller sang.
Surviving are his widow Rebekah Cardwell, daughters, Mrs. Ramsey of Lafayette,
Ark., Mrs. Carl Logan, Concord, Calif., Mrs. Frank Vouflue and Mrs. Virgil Wall
of Kerman, Mrs. E. N. Allen of Visalia; a brother Wilson Cardwell of Springdale,
Ark., and a half-brother Walter Cardwell of Le Grand. Also twelve grandchildren.
