William R. Bucholtz, 42, of Hilmar died Sunday at Emanuel Medical Center, Turlock. Mr. Bucholtz was a native of Turlock and lifelong resident of Hilmar. He taught seventh-grade language arts at Hilmar Middle School for 15 years. He was a 1980 graduate of Hilmar High School and had a degree in communications from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He served on the Hilmar Middle School Site Council and was chairman of a variety of school events. He was a member of Hilmar Covenant Church, where he sang in the choir, served on church boards and co-chaired the annual Swedish Smorgasbord. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, travel and the performing arts. He is survived by his father, Rodney Bucholtz of Hilmar; stepmother, Mary Bucholtz of Hilmar; sisters, Susan Azevedo and Michelle Peterson, both of Hilmar; and his grandmother, Adeline Bucholtz of Hilmar. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charis Bucholtz. Visitation from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Allen Mortuary, Turlock. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hilmar Covenant Family Center. Private burial at North Hilmar Cemetery.
