Mrs. Sarah Hail Is Called By Death

Mrs. Sarah Hail, widow of the late Jesse S. Hail, passed away last Friday at the home of her son Herman H. Hail, at Arena, her death being due to the infirmities incident to advanced age.

Funeral services, at which the Rev. David McMartin officiated, were held in the Ivers & Alcorn chapel Monday afternoon, and intermnet was in the Hail family plot in the Plainsburg cemetery.

Mrs. Hail was born in Arkansas on January 4, 1852, and came to California with her parents when she was in her teens, the trip being made by way of the Isthmus of Panama. Following her marriage to Mr. Hail in 1869 the couple resided near Dover on the San Joaquin river for a short time and then moved to what was then known as the Sandy Mush section of this county, where they engaged in grain farming until 1874. The next fifteen years were spent in Mariposa county. Mr. Hail died in 1907, and his widow continued to reside here, respected and esteemed by all who knew her.

Surviving relatives are four sons, George W., Martin H., Herman H., and Samuel W. Hail.
