MERCED CLAY PRODUCTS CO.

We dropped into a little meeting at the Tioga last night and heard some good news. The California Pottery Company, launched ten years ago, has become in name and in fact a Merced institution. It is to be called the Merced Clay Products Company. Over 70 per cent of the stock is held by Merced people. The concern will have no strings on it. The Oakland connection, which has always governed the plant, has been severed. A. C. Fancher is president and J. R. Flynn secretary. The new manager, Mr. Beagle, already has the plant looking like a going concern. He is confident that it will soon be on a dividend paying basis, notwithstanding the comparative inactivity in the building line. The Merced Clay Products Company is a good thing to boost.
